The
MG SC was a new urban
compact SUV concept unveiled at the Shanghai Motorshow 2013. A report in the Sunday
Times at the weekend featured the new MG GTS, a five seat SUV from MG's
Chinese owner, SAIC. "It's roughly the same size as a Nissan Qashqai and
will compete in the fastest growing segment of the new car market but will face
tough competition from the popular Nissan as well as the Mazda CX-5 and Honda
CR-V. Four wheel drive will be an option but it is not known whether a diesel
engine will be available when the car is launched: only a 2 litre turbocharged
petrol unit has been confirmed".
The Sunday Times article says it can sprint from 0 to 62mph in 8 seconds and the
